The Business Advisory Service Providers Association of Ghana (BASPAG) and the Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana (CAG), with support from USAID via the Feed the Future Ghana Trade and Investment (GTI) initiative, have launched a Business Development Service (BDS) app and a Ghana Business Directory. These tools aim to integrate technology into the operations of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), particularly those in agribusiness, helping them connect with advisory professionals, enhance business profiling, and access critical services.

The BDS app is designed with features like real-time updates and user-friendly customization, allowing SMEs to access tailored advice, make informed decisions, and improve strategic business planning. The initiative is set to support over 200 businesses within the next 6 to 12 months, bolstering their capacity in the competitive market.

This launch aligns with BASPAG and CAG’s commitment to advancing private investment and trade, which contributes to Ghana’s overall economic resilience. During the event, Juliana Asante-Dartey, Deputy CEO of Agri Impact Group, stressed the vital role that SMEs play in Ghana’s agriculture, contributing 20% to the GDP and employing 44% of the population. She emphasized the need for digital innovation to enhance agribusiness productivity and sustainability.

Sam Atiemo, President of BASPAG, highlighted the app’s role as a transformative tool for SMEs, enabling them to better manage their operations, access new markets, and secure financial assistance. The platform is expected to reach up to 5,000 SMEs and drive approximately $5 million in sales.

This collaboration aims to strengthen Ghana’s agricultural sector and empower SMEs by making technological advancements accessible to all, including smallholder farmers, women, and youth. Nikaj van Wees, Chief of Party-GTI, called for continued collaboration to ensure lasting positive impacts across the economy.

Both the business directory and the BDS App will be on Playstore.
